This is Commandment Thursday, and it is the new commandment that Jesus gave us the night before he died, that we love one another. This is probably Nick’s favorite service of the whole year. The liturgy is poetic, sad, but hopeful. It gives you permission to sit in your sorrow, with the promise that you won’t be there forever. There even a part where we wash each others feet. It awkward, but that’s part of the point.
