Lenten Burger Night

  • Saint Luke's Episcopal Church 8009 Fort Hunt Road Alexandria, Virginia 22308 U.S.A. (map)

Friends,

I would like to officially invite you to a Lenten discipline as a community.

When I began to take my faith seriously, I loved the honesty and darkness of Lent. It is a time to confront our mortality, look inwards and to let ourselves be drawn in close to God. While I like the typical approach to Lent, we do something different at St. Luke’s.  In an effort to address the loneliness epidemic and encourage community in an isolating world, I invite you to St. Luke’s Lenten Burger Nights.

Starting February 25th, we will be having a different burger of the week served in the parish hall starting at 5:30. Everyone is welcome. Donations help but are not required. Our goal is to create an environment where people can get to know others in their community, so that the circle of who is “in” at St. Luke’s is drawn ever wider. These dinners will run through April 1st.

First and foremost, come, mingle and learn to the love all the saints of St. Luke’s.

If you want to dig deeper into your faith, then I encourage to join Ross Kane’s Confirmation Class that will be taught in the library from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm on Wednesday. Can’t make Wednesdays? Kyle Munroe and I will be teaching the same material at 9:00 am the following Sundays. This program is made with new members in mind; however, it is open to everyone. If you have never darkened our doors on Sunday and are curious, this is a good place to start. If you are a life-long Episcopalian and want to dig deeper, then I think you find this class just want you are looking for.
