The Rev. Deacon Veronika Travis, Associate Rector

Growing up in the Episcopal Church, Veronika spent a lot of time playing hide and seek among the pews, escaping from adults as she and her friends ran through the halls, and learning to love God and her neighbor. As an adult, she remembers those years of learning and freedom to encounter God, and she believes that God is more easily seen and known by children than by the most sophisticated theologians. Her work before entering ordained ministry was in communications and technology. She has a passion for helping people to meet Jesus through new technologies and through the church's ancient traditions and spiritual practices. Christian formation in community has always been part of her calling, and she is excited to learn with all the members of St. Luke's, no matter their age. Veronika earned her BA in Comparative Literature from Smith College and her Master in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. She and her wife Molly enjoy hiking, gardening, going to plays and concerts,  and playing with their dachshund, Otto, and house rabbit, Bunnito. On her own, Veronika likes reading fantasy novels, watching silly superhero movies and singing made up songs to Otto.

Kate Weber-Petrova, Organist and Choirmaster

Kate has been a professional church musician for over ten years and has performed as a recitalist and collaborative musician throughout the Baltimore/DC and Milwaukee areas. An accomplished pianist, organist, choirmaster, and soprano, Kate believes that the variety she offers as a musician brings a richness and diversity to worship that mirrors the manner in which most people listen to and connect with music today. Kate has devoted the past few years to continuing education as an organist. Before that, she earned a bachelor of music at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where she double-majored in classical piano and voice. She holds a master of arts from the University of Maryland, where she spent seven years teaching musicology courses. She is thrilled to be at St. Luke’s and hopes to inspire others to be part of its music ministry.
